 My Counselling Style

Through my Counselling Training I have been able to take the best elements of well-known counselling and psychotherapy models and put them together in a tried and tested approach - this is called psychotherapeutic counselling. This allows me to work with individuals with a wide range of problems, whilst it helps you develop your own self-knowledge and understanding.

My aim

My aim: I believe that change is possible for the better and together we work out what you need to bring about that change. Therapy can support you to build your own 'toolkit' of skills and knowledge to create the resilience and clarity you may want with aspects of your life, helping you to feel better about your issues. Perhaps your main issue is anxiety, perhaps it is depression, perhaps you have experienced trauma in the past, or are finding a current relationship painful - perhaps you struggle to find meaning in your life or perhaps you feel dispirited, with no hope for the future, or, you may not even know what your issue is – just that something is wrong. In all these cases good counselling can help you.

My job will be to listen very carefully to what you are telling me. It will also be to recognise what you are not saying. Many of us carry emotional burdens that we feel we cannot talk about - suppressing what is most painful, shameful, or simply inconvenient to our self-image. I will help you to work through each of these issues.

"Hearing" what you are not saying will be at the heart of our successful work. This work is difficult, and it takes time. Over the period of our work, as our therapeutic relationship develops, I will get to understand, and to know you better. Your self-knowledge will also increase.

When you truly know yourself, you become empowered to change your own life. This empowerment is the goal of the therapy that I practice.

Here is what a few Clients had to say about me:

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your time, support, patience and (too much to mention)...I wouldn't be where I am now without you.

Your patience and understanding has really helped me with my issues about anxieties and lack of sleep. Thanks loads.

I wanted to say a big thank you really for your support... It has been ridiculously hard but I already know that it has been worth it and I couldn't have got through it without you. Your caring, kind and non-judgemental personality is what makes you a fantastic counsellor... I'm now ready to move forward with the rest of my life - a stronger and more determined person
